Vertical-Axis Wind Turbines

Through creating innovative methods of constructing the tower, bearings and rotor, Plithos Renewables has redesigned the vertical-axis wind turbine to address these flaws and offer a low-cost, adaptable VAWT platform.

The blocks designed by Plithos Renewables can be assembled into an expandable tower for use in VAWTs. The diameter of the tower can be increased by having more blocks in each array and the height increased by using longer rods and more layers of blocks.

Mounting bearings at multiple points along the pole stabilizes the rotor to increase reliability.

The block pole has a multitude of options for foundations with direct burial, precast or in-situ concrete base and tripods each suitable for different conditions.

The blocks can be adapted to suit large diameter towers with roller bearings able to provide fine dimensional adjustment.
